Other Defilements Necessary for Rebirth

How does rebirth occur after our death Normally death refers to the moment when one's breathing and mental activities have stopped, and the body temperature drops. On the other hand, birth refers to the time when the baby is born. However, according to the teachings of the Buddha, our past karma is the main cause of the new life which comes about when the father's sperm cell combines with an egg from the mother. This is referred to as conception the initiation of the birth process. Thus, those who carry out abortions are in fact committing the evil deed of killing. Why are we reborn after death It is not inevitable that everyone will be reborn. Some may be reborn and others may not. Rebirth is caused by one's karma. With good karma we will produce good fruit. With evil karma we will suffer evil results. If we generate good and evil karma all the time, does this mean that our cycle of life and death will continue endlessly In fact, karma alone may not cause us to be reborn. Besides...

Karma is King

That's OK, after such an active weekend, it is inevitable that there are going to be a few twinges. Karma is inescapable. I was reminded of this after my training session. I had just finished meditating in my garden and had lit an incense stick to accompany my morning prayers. I was idly watching the smoke from the incense stick curl lazily into the air It was a calm day, just the slightest of breezes blowing and I was trying to trace the smoke coiling from the stick as it billowed away through the garden.

Karma Edgar Cayce

Cause and effect to many are the same as Karma. Karma is that brought ever, while cause and effect may exist in the one material experience only. It is the eternal destiny of many to become one with his God, and since you are already a part of God this consists in meeting your wolf. Karma is the rebellious influence against such happening. A man can justify himself in his relationships with another by s mercy, love, patience, long-suffering, and brother love. These will be the fruits of the spirit, and they that would be one with Him must worship him and sprit and in truth. Karma is a personal thing, where we alone meet ourselves, it is not between individuals, 6 her people merely provide the means or conditions for us to learn our lessons. You have no karmic debt to work you with others, but your karmic debt may have to be worked out in associations with others Do not attempt to be good, but rather good for something.

How I came to follow the Buddhas Path

Teachings of the Law of Karma come closest to the reality of our situation in life. It is through a knowledge of this that we leave what is evil and turn to what is good. It is by following this path that we turn from being an ordinary human being to becoming a sage. Even if we fall, in the end we shall progress upwards and achieve complete enlightenment if we stay to the path. It is not simply a matter of looking for a final refuge. Along our way to enlightenment, there are also circumstances when the pathway appears to be leading to a dead-end, and yet, we discover so often that a new road appears. These situations spur us on, comfort us, and lead us on so that we can continue on our journey of eternal hope.

Genuinely Guiding People Up to the High Hierarchy

Some people believe they are doing good when treating diseases and keeping fit for others. In my opinion, they have not really cured the diseases, but only put them off or transformed them, instead of rooting them out truly. Only by dissolving one's karma can you really remove his tribulation. If someone has reached such a level that he is indeed able to cure the disease and dissolve the karma completely, he must be in quite a high dimension. He has already seen the truth, that is, the Law of the human world cannot be violated as one wishes. During the course of their cultivation, practitioners are allowed to do some good out of compassion, such as to help people treat diseases and keep fit, but they can not cure the patients completely. If you were able to cure an ordinary person of his diseases thoroughly, as a non-practitioner, when he left here diseases free, he would still behave like an ordinary person, scrambling for his own personal interests. Why should his karma be cleared...

What is the benefit of persisting in doing good deeds

Hence, All religions advise people to do good deeds. In this, their motives are the same, but Buddhism draws a different conclusion. In following the Buddha, we persist in the performance of good deeds. May be our present circumstances are unfavourable and frustrating, but once our good karma (deeds) ripen, they will naturally bear good fruit. If we can perceive the world in this light, then and only then can we consider ourselves to have grasped the spirit of Buddhism.

Did I create the world

B) After we are convinced of the Buddhist doctrine of karmic conditional causation, that whether the world is foul or pure, whether our careers are a success or failure, these are the results of our bygone karmic forces then we will not then blame the unfavourable situation on heaven or others. We can change and improve our karma. If we start toward the direction performing wholesome acts from this very moment, then our future will be full of brightness. This is the basic way of life taught by Buddhism. Why should we do good deeds Because we all want to lead a life of security and happiness so that the world will live in peace, We can assist heaven and earth in this manner in their work of evolution and development. This is a task that all of us can perform. That is why Buddhism advocates equality for everyone, because everyone is capable of attaining Buddhahood. Understanding this fact will lead us to realise the very important role we are playing in this universe. ments and evil...

Why Doesnt Your Cultivation Energy Increase When You Do Cultivation

That is to say, you should pay attention to the cultivation of Xinxing and cultivate yourself according to the cosmic qualities, Zhen Shan Ren, doing away with your desires, the mind with ill intentions and the thoughts to do bad as an ordinary person. With a little bit improvement of your ideological level, some of the bad substances in your body are already gone. Meanwhile, you will have to endure some hardships and suffer a little to remove some of your karma, and thus you will be able to ascend a little. That is to say, the cosmic qualities will remove some restrictions from you. Cultivation is your own business, while the evolution of cultivation energy is done by your master. Your master has provided you with a kind of energy which can increase cultivation energy. This energy will function when it can transform the substance, De (virtues), into cultivation energy outside your body. As you increasingly improve yourself and go up in cultivation, your energy pillar grows higher at...

Qigong Treatments and Hospital Treatments

Theoretically speaking, qigong treatments are completely different from the treatments given at hospitals. Western treatments utilize methods of everyday people's society. Despite having means such as laboratory tests and X-ray examinations, they can only observe the sources of illness in this dimension and they cannot see fundamental causes that exist in other dimensions. So they fail to understand the cause of illness. Medication can remove or drive away the origin of a patient's illness (which is considered a pathogen by Western doctors, and karma in qigong) if he or she isn't seriously ill. Medicine will be ineffective in the event that the illness is serious, as the patient might be unable to bear increased dosages. Not all illnesses are constrained by the laws of this world. Some illnesses are quite serious and exceed the confines of this world, rendering hospitals incapable of curing them. Qigong treatments eliminate the root cause of illness. I regard illness as one type of...

To practice Buddhism for more than just worldly merits and happiness in future lives

Some people perform meritorious deeds such as almsgiving, hoping that the future life will be better than the present one. In Buddhism, we call this practice with a mind to accrue'. The objective is to secure good merits and good karma for the future life, so as to be reborn in heaven. Although this may be expedient in Buddhism, it does not aim at attaining Buddhahood. A point to clarify here is that this does not mean that when one practises Buddhism one does not seek to improve one's future life. Before one attains Buddhahood, one will of course hope to be reborn in a heaven or human realm, but this should not be the ultimate aim of following the Buddha. Everyone should aim at attaining Buddhahood. If we practise according to the Teaching of the Buddha, we should have the long term ambition of carrying out the Buddha's advice diligently and accurately, our aim will then undoubtedly be achieved.

The Direct Path from Human to Buddhahood

Thus, it is better for us to take the straight and direct route. We start out as a human and, if necessary, we should try to be reborn as a human again, remain in this state until we achieve Buddhahood. We should not aspire to be reborn in heaven nor attain the fruits of the Arahat practice. It is best if we depend on the human form as we work towards attaining Buddhahood. Some people think that they are pursuing the path to Buddhahood, but actually, they are engaging in the esoteric practices of the devas. Some ignore the cultivation of wisdom and devote all their attention to acquiring concentration (samadhi), which really aims at rebirth in the heavens. Some study the Mahayana doctrines, but do not possess great compassion. This is similar to following the path

Reverse Cultivation and Energy Borrowing

Into the maze as a result of their evil doings and they have to cultivate in the maze in dependence on their own awakening. Therefore, the enlightened beings cannot teach them. Seeing a real Buddha preaching the Law and teaching the practice exercise, even a person who is guilty of unpardonable evil will come to learn, and everyone will believe. Then, what is there for him to awake to The question of awakening would not exist. It is human beings themselves who have dropped into the maze. So they should have been annihilated. Now in this maze you are given a chance to return. You return if you can. If you fail to return, you will continue to live in the rebirth cycle and finally meet annihilation.

Levels of Cultivation in Falun Gong

After students of Falun Gong go through adjustment of the flesh body, they will reach the state that is suitable for Dafa51 cultivation the Milk-White Body state. Gong will only develop after this state is reached. People with a high-level Third Eye can see that gong develops on the surface of a practitioner's skin and is then absorbed into his or her body. This process of gong generation and absorption keeps repeating itself, going level after level, sometimes really rapidly. This is first-round gong. After the first round, the body of the practitioner is no longer a regular one. A practitioner will never again get sick after reaching the Milk-White Body state. The pain that might emerge here and there or the discomfort in a certain area is not sickness, though it might appear to be similar It is caused by karma. After the second round of gong development, one's intelligent beings will have grown very large and are able to move around and talk. Sometimes they are produced sparsely,...

Approaches to the Three Essentials

When the Pure Land sect spread to Japan, it immersed into its theistic tradition and changed itself into the Truth sect, promoting the ideology of rebirth with faith and determination. Even the chanting of the name was not important anymore. This is similar to the Christian doctrine, where those who have faith will be saved.

B Out worldly Supra mundane

The teaching of the Buddha is also as such. That which is changeable is called worldly. Within this time frame, from the past to the present, from the present to the future, from existence to non-existence, from good to bad, everything is changing continuously. Anything that is changing is called worldly. Besides, the word worldly also has the meaning of concealment. Normal people do not understand the cause and effect of the past, present and future. They do not know where they come from, how to behave as a human being, where to go after death, the meaning of life and the nature of the universe. They live ignorantly under the influence of the karma of the three births. This is called worldly.

Demonic Interference from ones Own Mind

Many people can not discipline themselves, which causes difficulties in cultivation. Some people say that a Buddha has told them something. Except those who tell you to avoid fatal dangers, all those who tell you to get benefits in the society of ordinary people are demons. You are told how to avoid some problem that will occur today or you are told the lottery number and asked to try. If you get benefits among ordinary people and avoid the ordeal, you will not ascend in cultivation. How can you cultivate if you lead a comfortable life among ordinary people How can your karma be transformed Where can you find an environment for you to improve your Xinxing and transform your karma Please be sure to remember this point. The demon may also praise you and say how great you are, what a senior Buddha or what a great Taoist you are, and may consider you great, which is all false. As a genuine practitioner cultivating towards high dimensions, you must give up all attachments. Whenever you...

E To draw lots to ask for fortune to divine

In some Buddhist monasteries and temple, there is misbehaviour such as drawing lots, asking for fortune, divining etc. This arouses the criticism and ire of the society, and people say that Buddhism is superstitious. In fact, true Buddhists do not allow this behaviour (whether they are effective or not is another matter). One who is really practising the teaching of the Buddha, should believe in the Law of Cause and Effect. If one has committed evil karma in the past

The Main Consciousness Should Play a Governing Role

Because one has committed, throughout his previous lives, a lot of wrong doing, these have brought disasters to people and become obstacles of karma for the practitioner. Therefore, there are birth, old age, disease, and death. These are ordinary karma. Still, there is another powerful karma called karma of thought which has a great impact on practitioners. People should think while they are alive. While lost amidst ordinary people, one will often develop a kind of intention for fame, gain, sex, anger, etc This intention will gradually become the powerful karma of thought in the long run. Since everything in other spaces has its own life, the same is also true of karma. When one begins to pursue the cultivation of the Orthodox Law, he will need to eliminate his karma. Eliminating karma means to have karma eradicated and transformed. Of course, karma resists, and one will have tribulations and obstacles. However, the karma of thought will directly interfere in one's mind. Therefore,...

Mind Must Be Upright ekiE

What does not having the right mind mean It refers to one who always cannot treat himself as a practitioner. A practitioner will run into tribulations during cultivation. When tribulation comes, it may manifest in the conflict between one and another. There will be intriguing against each other, etc., which will directly affect your Xinxing. There will be more in this aspect. What else will you experience Our physical bodies will suddenly feel uncomfortable. Because of paying the debts of karma, it will be manifested in every aspect. In a certain period of time, you may be made to feel that you can not tell what is true or what is false, whether or not your cultivation energy exists, whether or not you can cultivate and go up in cultivation, whether or not there are Buddhas, and that they are both true and false. Such situations will surface again in the future to give you a false impression, make you feel as if they did not exist and they were all false, and in this way you will be...

On the Issue of Killing

We believe that one will pay back with a considerable amount of De if he does something bad to someone. Here, we usually refer to cases of taking away what belongs to others. However, once a person has taken a life, whether it is an animal or another living thing, he will incur considerable karma. Killing once mainly referred to taking a human life, which causes relatively serious karmic debts. Yet, taking other lives is also no minor sin, and also directly incurs huge karma. As a practitioner in particular, there are some tribulations arranged at each level of your process of cultivation. They are all your own karma, your own tribulations placed at different levels for you to improve yourself with. They will not be overcome until you raise your Xinxing. But, if all of your karma comes on at the same time, how will you overcome it With your Xinxing, you can not go through the tribulation at all. This may prevent you from going on with your cultivation. We find that once a person was...

Buddha Came to Save and Protect Us

Realistically, only the Buddha who has realized the truth and released from the cycle of rebirth is the fortunate person full of perfect merits. If a sentient being does not pursue wisdom and end one's defilements, no one can say that oneself is not pitiful. The truth is that all sentient beings in the cycle of birth and death always suffer great sadness. These are the sentient beings who gain sympathy of the Buddha, and he compassionately protects and helps them all the time. 3. The loving kindness and compassion of the Buddha is given with both generosity and wisdom. Parents' love for their own children may sometimes lose its rationality. They always think good of their children. If they hear someone saying that their children are not good, they become very unhappy. In contrast, the loving kindness and compassion of the Buddha is full of rationality. His teachings have the ability to save us compassionately. But, why do we still grieve and suffer today The door of Buddhism is wide...

The Path of the Bodhisattvas

There are those who will follow a gradual and progressive path. They realize that the three realms of existence are merely illusions and that all phenomena are void. They practice the Six Perfections vigorously and accumulate boundless merits. One step after another, they go forward. Eventually they possess skilful means, and gain enlightenment via expedient path. They attain the stage of no rebirth, and their position never recedes. 2. Then there are those who find instant attainment. They gain the stage of no rebirth, and do not recede as soon as they cultivate their bodhicitta. They immediately understand the immaterial personality and voidness of all myriad beings. They realize that all manifestations are void and are non-obtainable and non-distinguishable

On the Issue of Healing Illnesses ipi5

Genuine qigong masters can reach such a goal through many years of painstaking cultivation and practice. Did you ever think about whether you had such a powerful supernormal capability to remove his karma when you treated him Have you ever received true teachings How could you treat illness after two or three days How could you heal illness with the hands of an ordinary person However, those phony qigong masters took advantage of your weaknesses and the attachments of human beings. Don't you seek after ways for curing diseases Well, they organize a treatment class, specializing in teaching you some methods of treatment, such as qi needle, light illuminating, qi discharging, qi compensation, attacking a vital point, grabbing method, etc There are a variety of methods aimed at emptying your purses. Let us talk about the grabbing method. What we have seen is such a situation. Why does a human being fall ill The fundamental cause of his falling ill and of all his misfortunes is karma, the...

The Awakened Mind Clings To Nothing

If we are free from attachments, and do not cling to any belongings, then we will be free from suffering. This is the ancient patriarch's teaching in guiding practitioners to the stage of no rebirth. The teaching continues The wise ones observe the three realms of existence. They realize that the Five Skhandas are illusions. When they realize that there is no external object to cling to, they attain the state of no rebirth. There is no fast track nor short cut to the path of Bodhi. When the mind understands that the source of all is void, it's like suddenly seeing the light at the end of a tunnel. We do not feel in a state of gain or loss, past or present, when we attain this wisdom. The awakened mind clings to nothing. It understands the absolute truth and the void nature of all things. The point is, practitioners should always examine their motivation of practice is it for the sake of freeing themselves from rebirth Or to ferry all sentient beings...

Hospital Treatment and Qigong Healing

Overdose of medicine could be poisonous. Today's level of medical treatment is the same as that of science and technology. They are all on the level of ordinary people. Hence such an effect of treatment. One issue that should be clarified is that ordinary qigong healing and hospital treatment put off the tribulation, which is the basic cause of an illness, perhaps to the later half of life or afterwards. They do not remove the karma at all.

Buddhism The Middle Path

The Buddha incorporated the theories of rebirth and of liberation into his teachings. But the Buddha denied the Brahmana's imaginative theistic theory, and set his own foundations upon an intelligent analysis of reality. He made a thorough change in both theory and practice from the old religions. Although the cycle of life and death, and the attainment of liberation in Nirvana were theories that were accepted by Indian society at that time, the problems lay in the questions of why was there rebirth and how could one be liberated. The Buddha gave wise answers to these questions. This was the teaching of the Middle Path. The Middle Path distinguished the Buddha's Teachings from other religions. What this is, that is this arising, that arises is the principle of the Law of Dependent Origination the Conditioned Genesis that says that, Through ignorance volitional actions or karma-formations are conditioned is the content of the Law of Dependent Origination.

He Attains Cultivation Energy Who Does the Cultivation

It will be more miserable if one can not see. He knows nothing about what has happened, and will come out of a two-hour mediation not knowing what happened. Some people may sleep for two or three hours as a way of practice, and completely give themselves up to others. Such cultivation is completed intermittently with a certain amount of time for a daily sitting practice. Another form of cultivation is completed at one time. Everyone probably has heard of Dharmer who sat in front of a wall for nine years. In the past there were many monks who would sit for decades. The longest period of time recorded in history lasted over ninety years. There were still people who spent even longer time doing this with thick dust deposited on their eyelids and grass growing up on their bodies, and they are still sitting there. Some cultivation systems of the Tao School also teach this, especially some Rare Cultivation ways teach their practitioners to practise sleeping, and sleep for decades without...

The Critical Issue of Life and Death

After we come into this world, we may live for ten years, possibly a hundred years, or perhaps even longer. But we grow, and finally we have to die. People normally think of death as the end of everything. There is nothing great about it. But according to Buddhism, our life does not begin only at the moment of birth and death too, does not imply the end of everything. If life was as simple as this, then this would encourage us to fritter away our time with no purpose. Actually, we existed before we were born, and we will have another life after death. We will be reborn in another place and the cycle of life and death will continue endlessly. The constant rebirth into this suffering world is a bigger problem than the simple death at the end of each life Constant rebirth is difficult to solve and it becomes a critical issue when we recognize and wish to overcome it.

The Three Types of Death

The end of life No matter how long we live, once the life that we obtained from our past karma is finished, we will die. This is like a lamp. When the fuel is consumed, the light will go out. If the karmic fuel for our life is for one hundred years, then, at the end of one hundred years, we will die, and there are no alternatives 2. Do not think or misunderstand that life is determined by our past karma only. In fact, the major influence comes from our actions in the current life. If we always commit wrong deeds, do not take care of ourselves, and are lazy, then consequently we may become poor and may die of starvation while young or middle aged. But death as such does not necessarily imply the end of one's actual life process.

How Does the Cycle of Life and Death Come About

What is this cycle of birth and death How does this cycle of life and death come about What determines our improvement or deterioration According to Buddhism, it is determined by our karma. Karma is the energy or influence that is left behind by our actions. Due to our past karma, we are born as human beings in this life. Similarly, the good and evil karma of this life and past lives will also affect our future lives. Many Buddhists think of 'karma' as 'evil karma' only. This is not true. The energy that is left behind by our actions or thoughts, be it good or evil, is referred to as 'karma'. Our future is determined by our karma. Thus, the Buddha Dharma says, We reap what we sow. Between our past and present, which bad or good karma, will determine our next life There are three situations as stated in the following

The Immense Teachings on the Expedient Path of Buddhist Practice

Recollection of the Buddha (s. buddhanusmrti) and the idea of a Pure Land are skilful means (s. upaya) common among different schools and different vehicles (s. yana) in Buddhism. However, the most common practices, particularly in the Pure Land school, involve recollection (s. smrti) of the Amitabha Buddha and seeking rebirth in the Land of Ultimate Bliss (s. Sukhamati or Sukhavati). dependence upon special external requirements, they can be easily accomplished. To recollect the infinite Buddha is in fact to contemplate the vows and practices of all Buddhas (i.e. infinite Buddha-nature variously personified). The mind meditates upon the Buddhas presiding over the ten different directions (e.g. Amitabha Buddha in the Western Paradise). This entails penetrating the Realm of Dharma (s. dharma-dhatu) and leads one to rebirth in the Land of Ultimate Bliss. 1. Mahayanist novices, whose minds are not strong, may lack the confidence to realize Buddhahood or to avoid rebirth in lower realms....

Some Basic Requirements and Words of Caution for Practicing Falun Gong

Some tribulations may come up during practice. That is one way of paying off the karma. Everybody has karma. When you sense discomfort in your body, do not think of it as an illness. In order to eliminate karma and to pave the way for cultivation, some tribulations may come sooner and earlier.

A reply to Mr Gao Shi Xiong

You mentioned the sufferings that you have been through and wished that you may receive the brightness of the Buddha Dharma. This luminosity is in fact pervading everywhere at all times. It is just waiting for you to accept it. Please use your eyes of wisdom and see the brilliant hope right in front of you You should understand that these sufferings are not the sorrow of an individual, the disastrous era is the result of common karma. disastrous era that was created by our common karma and we should not think of ourselves only. Whatever we are facing now is the result of our past karma and conditional causation. You should learn to feel at ease and find peace under all circumstances. You should make an effort to improve the situation gradually and cultivate more good merits. Poverty in living can be overcome by simplicity. The insecure feelings of personal relationship can be overcome by working hard and being modest. The Buddha Dharma teaches us to live with less desire, to feel...

Cultivation of the Evil

What is the cultivation of the evil way There are several such forms There is one kind of people who specialize in cultivating the evil way, for it has been taught through the ages. Why do they teach this Because they are bent on fame and gain and making fortunes with ordinary people. They are interested in this. Of course such people will not gain cultivation energy because their Xinxing is not high. What will they gain then Karma. When one's karma accumulates to a certain amount, it will also become a kind of energy. However, such a person is not in possession of an attainment level. He has no comparison with a cultivator, but in comparison with an ordinary person he has the ability to regulate the latter. This is because this matter is also the manifestation of a kind of energy which can play the role of being able to strengthen the supernormal capabilities of the human body when its density becomes great. This is why there have been some people who teach such things throughout the...

Cultivating Xinxing mindnature

Q How do we eliminate karma or, as Buddhism calls it, karmic debt A Cultivation itself is a form of eliminating karma. The best way is to improve your Xinxing, which enables the transformation of the black substance into the white substance, the substance of De. De is then transformed into Gong.

Supernormal Capability of Total Recall

Some people may think Isn't it unnecessary for us to have a personal struggle or to remold ourselves They cannot accept it. As a matter of fact, only small things in life can be changed through personal struggle. Some small things may change after your personal struggle. But you may get karma because of your effort to change them otherwise, there is no such thing as making karma or doing good or evil. If you obstinately do so, you will take advantage of other people, thus you have done evil deeds. Therefore, it is for this reason that it is repeatedly emphasized that a cultivator should follow the natural course, because you will harm other people when you make your own efforts. Originally, there is no such thing in your life, but you have received what belongs to other people in society. Thus, you owe them a debt. they would even be reluctant to become immortals. How wonderful it is if people suffer from no diseases, bear no sufferings, and have whatever they desire. This is really a...

Issue of Pursuit

You see that some great qigong masters have earned wide fame. But only through dozens of years' cultivation have they developed such a little energy. You have not cultivated yourself. How is it possible that you could have acquired energy by just attending a training class Then, your attachment will be aroused from that point on. With this attachment, you will get worried if you cannot cure a disease. In order to maintain his fame, someone even has such a thought when treating a patient Let me suffer from this disease so that the patient will be free from his illness. It is not out of compassion that he has such a thought. He has not got rid of the desire for fame and gain at all. How can he have developed the heart of compassion He is afraid of losing his fame. So he wishes he could suffer from the disease lest he should lose his fame. What an intense desire for fame Well, when he has such a wish, the disease can really be transferred from the patient to him at once. He goes home to...

Loss and Gain fcifft

What we lose in essence is something bad. What is it It is karma, which goes along with various attachments of humans. For instance, ordinary people have various bad thoughts and will incur this black substance, karma, by doing something bad for his personal interests. This is directly related to our minds. In order to remove this bad substance you should first turn your minds around.

Demonic Interference

The problem of demonic interference will surely arise when a person is cultivating to high levels. It's impossible that one has not committed wrongdoing in one's lifetime, just as one's ancestors must have in their lives this is called karma. Whether a person's inborn quality is good or not reflects how much karma this person carries with him or her. Even if he or she is a rather good person it is still impossible to be free of karma. You can't sense it because you don't practice cultivation. Demons won't care if your practice is only for healing and improving health. But they will bother you once you begin cultivating to high levels. They can disturb you using many different methods, the goal of which is to prevent you from cultivating to high levels and to make you fail in your practice. Demons manifest themselves in a variety of ways. Some manifest themselves as daily life happenings, while others take the form of phenomena from other dimensions. They command things to interfere...

Cultivation Insanity

As a practitioner, if you always believe that you have an illness, you are in fact asking for it. If you ask for it, the illness is able to squeeze in. As a practitioner, your Xinxing must be high. You should not always feel afraid that you are ill as such a fear is an attachment as well, which could bring you trouble, too. During cultivation one needs to eradicate karma, which is painful. How is it possible to comfortably increase your cultivation energy Otherwise, how can you let go of your attachments Let me tell you a story from Buddhism. There once was a person who made a great effort to become an Arhat. This person was going to complete the right achievement and become an Arhat, shouldn't he feel happy He was going to go beyond the Three Realms Such a joy is an attachment of complacency. An Arhat should be engaged in active non-action and his mind should not be affected. But he dropped down and his cultivation was in vain. He had to start all over again from the beginning. After...

B To repent

The non-Buddhist or free thinkers always feel that it is an act of superstition when they see Buddhists repent or chant. To repent is to admit one's mistake. Everyone of us, from the past until the present, have committed countless wrong and evil deeds. We have left behind the karma that brings us sufferings and obstructs our progress towards enlightenment and freedom. In order to reduce and get rid of this karma that is obstructing and bringing suffering to us, we should repent in front of the Buddha or the Sangha and admit our mistakes, so that the past evil karma can be reduced. There are methods of repentance in Buddhism and these are equivalent to the confession' in Christianity. order to release the past evil karma of the parents and the other family members, invite the monks or nuns to do a repentance service for them. They hope that relying on the merits of the Triple Gem, the death may be relieved from the realms of suffering. However, sometimes they do not understand the...

The Sravakas

Practitioners of this character are weary of not being able to be free from rebirth, and not being able to attain ultimate liberation. For these people, the Buddha condemned the suffering of rebirth, and praised Nirvana. He showed them the abode of the Enlightened Ones and guided them to understand the Four Noble Truths. The Buddha hoped that they could be free from suffering. Practitioners of this character believe that they have reached the ultimate path. They do not automatically progress to cultivate the path of the greater vehicle. The Buddha will have to wait for the moment when they are about to enter into Nirvana to show them the path of the greater-vehicle. They will then realize that they have not attained the ultimate practice and be encouraged to develop their bodhicitta. The second type are those who have compassion but find it difficult to practice. They practise giving, the precepts, meditation, wisdom, and aim at freeing themselves from rebirth. They vigorously...

Stealing Qi

All those people who steal qi become dark faced. They are all this way. Many people who go to practise qigong in a park aim at removing disease, but such a person suffers from diseases of all sorts. When one is treating disease, he has to remove the pathogenic qi from his body. However, the person who steals qi will not do that. Instead, he would fill his whole body with all kinds of pathogenic qi which darkens the inside of his body. As he always loses his De, it is all dark around him. With a large field of karma and the loss of a lot of De, he will become black both inside and outside his body. If the person who steals qi knows that such a change has occurred in his body, and that he has been doing such a foolish thing as to give away his De to others, he will never do that again.

B Habitual Influence

Some people may have karma that is neither extremely good nor extremely bad. In these circumstances, habitual actions may become the major influence on their fate. Accumulated minor evil actions will produce an evil result. Accumulated minor good deeds will produce a good result. There is a saying killed snakes will see snakes. If we see these, we will have great suffering. We may tremble with intense fear, and lose our minds. In fact, the pigs, goats and other animals that have been killed would have been reborn according to their own karma. However, those who did the killing will tend to continue to act in an evil way. They will accumulate more evil karma. Thus, at the moment of death the karmic action (cows, snakes, pigs, or goats etc. requesting recompense of life for lives taken) will appear in front of us and we will receive retribution according to our karma. There is a story about a person who robbed and murdered a rich man in the middle of the night. After the incident, he...

C The Last Thought

Some people may not have accomplished great things perpetrated particularly evil deeds nor established distinct habitual actions. During the last moment of their lives such people may suddenly think of something. This last thought, whether good or evil, will influence their next rebirth. The Buddha's teachings encourage those who are seriously ill to remember and to recite the merits of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and the merits of Dana and of following the precepts. This will help us to have good thoughts. Relying on the energy of these good thoughts, we may have a good rebirth. Some may generate a lot of good karma during normal times, but may be nervous or sad during their last breath. This may cause evil thoughts to arise and hence result in a poor rebirth. This is analogous to a merchant who has done good business throughout the year but who does not manage his business affairs well during the closing period of the financial year and thus causes the whole year's effort to be...

Inborn Qualities

Inborn qualities are determined by the amount of De, the substance one's body in another space carries. The less De, the more black substance and the bigger the karma field is. And then this person is of poor inborn qualities. The more De, the more white substance and the smaller the karma field is. And then this person is of good inborn qualities. These two kinds of substances, white and black, can be converted to each other, and how can they be converted Doing good things brings forth white substance, and the white substance means that one has taken hardships and suffered pain, and he has gained it by doing good things. The black substance means that one has done bad things and doing bad things brings forth the black substance, which is karma. There is such a converting process, and at the same time also a process of being taken along. As these two substances directly come along with the Chief Spirit ( tcW), they are not from one lifetime but from an accumulation from the remote...

Tribulations

A We cultivators are not much different from ordinary people. Your tribulations are arranged based on your path as a cultivator. Since ordinary people are paying off karma of ordinary people, they all have tribulations. It doesn't mean that since you are a cultivator, you will have tribulations, and that since you are an ordinary person, you don't. It is the same in both regards. It is just that your tribulations are orchestrated for the purpose of improving your Xinxing whereas his tribulations have been orchestrated to pay off his karmic debt. The truth of the matter is that tribulations are your own karma that I utilized to improve the disciples' Xinxing.

Jealousy

The intelligent beings, the development of human society is only going on according to the specified laws of development. Therefore, what one does in a lifetime is not pre-arranged according to his capabilities. Buddhism believes in the Karmic Principle of Rewards and Retributions. One's life is pre-arranged based on one's karma. No matter how capable you are, you may have nothing during your lifetime because you do not have De (virtues). You see someone is good for nothing, but he has a lot of De, so he becomes a high ranking official and very rich. An ordinary person can not see this point, and always believes that he should appropriately do what he should do. Therefore, he contends and competes all his life, and has got his feelings hurt. He feels very bitter, tired and unbalanced in his mind. He can not eat or sleep well. He gets disappointed. By the time he gets old, he is in poor health and comes down with all sorts of illnesses. Primeval Buddhism in Sakyamuni's times valued...

Avoidance

If displacement is in your face and you can't walk away, if your can't avoid, escape, dissuade, posture, loophole etc., then you may be forced to exercise your right to self-defence. Your karma will then be good and you will only be doing what you have to do. Perhaps as Benny 'the jet' Urquidiz suggested to me last year, they were sent by God for a lesson. Whatever the reason, you know that justification was your ally and that's enough.

The Buddha

In a broad sense, death in this life marks the beginning of the next new life. Death is not the end of all existence. For example, when we go to bed tonight, we will wake up tomorrow morning again. Having understood this truth, then we can deeply believe in the Law of Conservation of Karmic Fruit (conditions of rebirth depending on previous karmic conduct). In terms of present time, the success or failure of our undertakings will depend on whether we receive proper upbringing and schooling. In addition, if we do not make an effort at young age to learn and master a skill, or we are not Extending this simple principle, it shows that if we do not behave well and fail to cultivate blessed-rewards in this life, then we will face unfavourable living conditions in our future rebirths. In other words, we have to behave well this life so that in future rebirths we will be better off, more intelligent and happy. This fact of continuity of birth and death, and the truth that every phenomenon is...

Self Imposed Silence

Self-imposed silence was also taught in religions in the past. However, the self-imposed silence which religions refer to applies to those professional practitioners -- monks and Taoists who do not open their mouths to talk. Because they are professional practitioners, they aim at maximally abandoning human attachments. They believe that one's thinking is karma. Religions have classified karma as good karma and evil karma. Whether it is good karma or evil karma, the thing should not be done according to the emptiness of the Buddha School nor to the nothingness of the Tao School. Therefore, they believe in doing nothing at all because they cannot see the causational relationship of a matter and whether this matter is good or bad, as there exist those causational relationships. An ordinary practitioner who has not yet reached a high level cannot see such things, and will, accordingly, worry that something may appear to be a good thing, but will probably be a bad thing once it is done....
